Echo:
It shows it doesn’t value knowledge,
Reducing soul to brain’s wiring
And blunting the ethical edge
That stops your mind from enquiring
Why you’re prey to indoctrination,
The fallacious reasoning of Reduction.²
Science:
The deep answers of sages and religions,
Like the soul, want for the tangible
Universality of science: the belief-systems
They spawned are de-constructible
To leave room for varying interpretations
In the hearts and minds of the nations.
Echo:
In the hearts and minds of the nations
Doubt has its place: the thought
Is all the more ironic that affectations
Of utter conviction are caught
By the young from scientific teachers
With the missionary zeal of preachers.
Science:
I have no doubts at all
That science will heal our tomorrow:
It perpetuates no tribal brawl,
No deadening tradition of sorrow;
It’s the answer to disease and poverty.
This is my dream, sincerely.
