Mr. Mee
Thrill-seeking child, your carriage awaits your life!
Take the built-in controls
And drive towards skill and self-determination in the strife
‘Twixt chance and your journey’s goals!
Be agent and experiencer at the wheel – but take your instructor
To reflect on and evaluate your driving and script your roles!
You should know Mr. Mee. He monitors each thought and feeling;
He’s the self-aware part of you.
Let him curb and judge the impulsive Ego, repealing
The peer-group pressures that make you
A passenger in life, lest, poorly directed, he loses
His way or his patience with you, and you grate anew.
He will calibrate your speedo; he will set the goals that you long to
Achieve, O would-be examinee,
Set your standards by the ugly or kindred you belong to
And he’ll make what they think of thee,
Your abilities and dreams, raise or lower your sights
Till you feel like cancelling the test or proving your proficiency.
Mr. Mee will sanction your reactions to the highway
As your Ego’s intuitive friend.
So his responses are the echoes you’ll follow when you drive it ‘my way’
According to the course he’s penned:
His orders will lead you out of the chaos of your feelings
With markers left by you, or for you by others, that he kenned.
